26 May 2021 | Admin There is a saying buy cheap and buy twice and this is normally the case with poor tuning / remapping companies ( While giving the trade a bad name in the process ). A cheap remap normally means one or two things the tuner is either using cloned tools from the internet which are made in china or the tuner is using files purchased online normally in a CD or USB format. As a customer you may not understand the dangers in this and how it can damage your vehicle or may offer very little performance increase at all. Below we go over some main points you can have issues with if you use a cheap remapping company. |
26 May 2021 | Admin When looking for a remap you will more than likely do some research to find out what your local remapping company can offer. Some tuners using cloned tools from unknown places can only offer OBD remaps, you need to be aware these are normally the cheap remapping companies that run around with a laptop offering remaps for £100-150. This can go wrong VERY quickly, we will explain why even using original tools direct from the manufacture and reading / writing via the OBD port can every now and then glitch out ( a problem which every mapper can come across ) then if the OBD doesn't allow you to upload this new file what happens then? The only answer is to remove the ECU and bench read / write the ECU. |
26 May 2021 | Admin The BMW Diesels always remap very well and owners notice the improvement straight away. The Diesel models are by far the most popular model to remap due to the excellent BHP & Torque gains you can get for such little outlay. For example the BMW F20 120D will get a BHP increase of 47 and 40NM of torque. You simply can't beat these gains with any other cost effective / affordable mod. The remap keeps are gains within a safe manor meaning we don't push the injectors or the turbo to there limits. This means the engines reliability remains un-effected. |
